The Ten Principles of Values-Driven Investing

IV. GIVE GENEROUSLY TO CHARITY

The best investment with the least risk and the greatest dividend is giving.
Sir John Templeton

As Mr. Templeton discovered, the personal return on investments in charitable opportunities goes way beyond the financial benefits of traditional investing. Indeed, the highest form of Values-Driven Investing is gifts to charity. Today, the average American gives approximately 3% of his or her income to established charities. We believe that all would benefit if every American would donate at least 10% of gross income for charitable purposes ahead of personal spending, savings, or traditional investing.
